BC "Dimitrovgrad"

BC Dimitrovgrad is beginning her second decade. Last month, the bridge club organised it's 10th jubilee tournament, a milestone in it's history. As befit the historical moment, the tournament has been modified and the awards increased - the prizes for this tournament are now among the highest in the category. Neochim PLC helped a lot in the organisation of the event.

The tournament format was a round-robin Swiss team match, and teams are then split into knock-out round of A and B groups (Danish system). This knock-out round was double-elimination, and teams who were knocked out were given another chance to continue in group B.

The road to the podium was hard-fought for both finalist teams, proving that persistence and determination do carry the day. South Zone and Milano, the 2 finalists, were both relegated to group B before they clawed their way back to the finals. And anyone eliminated earlier were also able to have some fun at the pairs tournament on Sunday.
Tournaments were directed by experienced Dimitar Georgiev and Jeko Jekov, which accounted for the pleasant and nice atmosphere.

Finally, in addition to their hard-won prizes, the winners also received additional goodies from a local producer and sponsor, Lotos Ltd, as well as the popular adult "nectar of Gods".
